Radit Raian

Aspiring Researcher in Astrophysics & Data Science

Hi, I am Radit Raian! Currently, I am in the final year of my high school at Adamjee Cantonment College, Dhaka. Additionally, I am working as a research intern at the Center for Astronomy, Space Science, and Astrophysics (CASSA) at IUB, Dhaka. I had long stories of my Olympiad journey, which has almost ended. Finally, I chose to chase infinity. However, outside STEM, I love to travel to new places and occasionally burn the kitchen, too!

Special Moments

OWAO 2025

Days with Sirius at 43.6° North

For the first time, I carried Bangladesh beyond its borders in a quiet responsibility that weighed and inspired all at once at the Open World Astronomy Olympiad 2025. Home was 5500 kilometers away, yet every calculation, every carefully written answer felt tethered to it, as if distance could never sever that connection. At 43.6° north, the nights were astonishingly clear and unfamiliar, each star speaking in a language I had only just begun to understand. Sirius burned brighter than ever, not merely a point of light, but a companion through endless hours of thought, doubt, and discovery. Truly, "The sky was not the limit there."

A Journey to the ∞ Through the Fun of Numbers

It began softly, just me, paper, and an endless curiosity that felt bigger than the world. I didn’t know then that mathematics would become a second home, a place where ideas and dreams could take shape. With my first camp call, the journey grew seasons measured not by calendars, but by the heartbeat of camps and shared moments. Those heavenly days were alive with proofs by day and laughter by night. Along with these, grand night movie screenings, endless Mafia and Werewolf rounds, Mini Militia battles, quiet chess games, and smiles that spoke louder than words. What stays with me most are days that still glow in memory like distant stars.

The Legacy Never Dies

Debating was a way to raise voices and shape ideas. Our school carried a long, proud legacy in debating, but for seven years the national trophy eluded us. Finally, we erased that drought. I still remember being the most junior participant, just in class six, standing on the national stage in front of over hundreds of lights and a bunch of cameras in BTV. The moment I delivered my speech was unforgettable, a mix of fear, pride, and exhilaration. Years later, as president, I nurtured a new group of debaters, grooming them to carry the legacy forward and ensuring the voice would never fade away from the next generations.

Touching the Stars from Home

Every Olympiad student dreams of seeing their ideas breathe in the real world, but in astronomy, the path in Bangladesh is often uphill. Resources are scarce, and opportunities rarer still. CASSA, the only astronomy and astrophysics research center in the country, seemed almost untouchable as most of its projects welcome undergraduates or graduate students, not high schoolers. Yet, somehow, I was in. Auditing AST 403: Galaxies and the Intergalactic Medium, working alongside brilliant seniors, learning to shape raw curiosity into real research became one of the proudest moments of my life. For the first time, the universe I had read about in books felt tangible, waiting for my hands to touch it.
